For my final major project, I have chosen to create a collection of design ideas featuring the print designs I have created. I have chosen three of my favourite prints to add to illustrations designs I have created, I was able to create these prints from my research topic, sustainability and fast fashion. I choose to research into these areas as it is an issue that as an industry we are currently facing and in order to create awareness people need to be aware of what they are able to do to help decrease the issue.
During my two years on HND Fashion and Textiles I have enjoyed pushing myself with new techniques in Textiles and taking part in different textile workshops such as felting. My skills in CAD that I have learnt have enabled me to produce research pages and designs that are professional, this will help me with further progression. I titled my Final major project ‘facing sustainability’. I looked into how the fashion industry and fast fashion is affecting the world and how to make fashion a more sustainable industry.I am hoping to progress to a university course to finish my degree.
Influenced by this years Pantone colour of the year, this “capsule” collection is keeping on trend with this year’s floral theme and a contemporary twist on maximalism. Inspired by the classic peony flower, this collection features 3 pattern’s in a selection of spring/summer colour’s on a range of homeware and interior products. I’m really pleased with what I’ve created within this project and I feel positive that I have a great content of work for my portfolio. I believe the level of skills and confidence I have developed in my final year will no doubt help me to progress into my professional career.
This is my second and final year of the HND Fashion and Textiles, I am really pleased how my work has developed through the year as I have gained many new skills making my work so much better throughout my projects. By using digital design skills and techniques, which I also have really enjoyed, my work has progressed giving it a professional edge. I’m grateful to experience these opportunities with textiles, all the classes and workshops I’ve had have been incredible. I am now looking forward to what the future brings.
The HND course has given me so much confidence in work and with what I produce as I have been given the tools and support to push my work further and use in my future career.
